Green mission, green fingers
It’s spring! Are your fingers starting to itch too? Ours do! On March 24, the kick-off of the tropical garden in the Museum Garden at the Tropeninstituut, where we now grow our own vegetables and use the shared herb garden. Studio Solarix therefore not only has a green mission, but also green fingers!
At the initiative of DeGezond Stad, there has been a neighborhood vegetable garden behind the Tropenmuseum since 2018, with a self-picking herb garden, greenhouse, worm hotel and twenty vegetable garden boxes. The Tropentuin is beautifully situated between KIT and the Oosterpark and is part of the Museum Garden, designed by DS Landscape Architects.
Various collaborative sessions and fun activities are organized at the Tropentuin, for example the opening of the vegetable garden season took place on 24 March. In collaboration with Nancy Wiltink of Moestuin School Amsterdam, a starter pack was available for a private Tropenbak, Rowin van Compostier explained the worm hotel and the herb picking garden is made possible in part by Abbing Buitenhof. A great collaboration between local residents, companies and sustainable initiatives that Studio Solarix likes to be part of.
The planting season has started, we have our own tropical container and are looking forward to the Solarix lunches this summer with our own vegetables. Towards a bright green future!
