Villa Lichtenberg is designed as a sustainable home that is low in energy and maintenance with a combination of unique qualities. The villa is located in a rolling green landscape with a double living floor downstairs, a bedroom floor above and a roof structure.Solarix was asked to work with <a href="https://wvwa.nl/">architect Willem van Winsen</a> and the clients to design the facade of the bedroom floor as an energy-generating facade. The appearance and distribution of the facade panels was important, without the association with standard solar panels. The result is a rhythmic pattern of various custom-made coloured design solar panels in the facades.

The facade consists of different sizes of solar panels, creating a varied image. The panels themselves have a mesh pattern of moss green and sand, which gives an almost traditional look. The energy-generating facade produces sufficient energy to meet the daily energy demand of the home, including the heat pump and the electric car.

Solarix solar facade

Solarix was asked by the architect and client to help design the facade early in the project. Ultimately, Solarix was commissioned by the client to take care of the realization of the facade. Project

A beautifully designed, low-energy and maintained villa with a complete energy-generating facade. The facade is designed in a rhythmic pattern of various custom-made coloured solar panels in a combination of moss and sand tones.

New construction

Sustainability, climate adaptation and energy saving are important spearheads for the redevelopment of the former data center in De Kwekerij. Less waste and a rapid transformation through maximum reuse of the existing concrete, elevator, stair constructions and steel facade panels. The new materials used in the facade are mainly black aesthetic solar panels. In this way, a sustainable second skin is placed around the building, giving the building a sturdy, robust appearance and also acting as an energy plant.

Estimated annual CO2 reduction of the Baobab solar facade

The facade design was developed in collaboration with <a target="_blank" href="https://www.morstudio.nl/">MOR Studio</a> in one of our standard sizes. Dummy panels have been used for the different panel sizes. A black panel was chosen that is somewhere between matte and glossy, with the dummy panels having the same appearance. The facade is mounted on the existing steelwork, which has been expanded in some places to allow the horizontal beams to be attached. With this building, we show that we can also create beautiful facade solution with black facade solar panels.

Solarix was asked by pv installer <a target="_blank" href="https://wattco.nl/">Wattco</a> and contractor <a target="_blank" href="https://vm-d.nl/">van Mierlo Dinkq</a> to think about the solar facade during the engineering. In collaboration with MOR Studio, a layout of the facade was designed based on our standard size of 600 x 1200 mm. MOR then made a choice from the various options and finishes for the panels. This was a great step towards an affordable, aesthetic and energy-generating facade. Redevelopment

The office building of engineering firm <a href="https://www.kuijpers.nl/">Kuijpers</a> has a scoop. This is the first building in the world where Solar Design has been applied to the facade. Kuijpers has been an ambassador for this application from the start. By thinking from a design perspective, the redevelopment made it possible to combine the generation of sustainable energy with the creation of a new identity for the building. In the dark, the building turns into an art object; the integrated LED lighting changes colour with the seasons.

Annual CO2 reduction of the Kuijpers Head Office facade

The solar façade of Kuijpers was designed as a new skin for the building, with all connections and corner details carefully considered. The colored solar panels were integrated into various aluminum composite elements, allowing for angled placement of the panels. The use of different color shades created a vibrant and warm façade. As such, the innovative Kuijpers solar façade has served as an important example in the transition toward sustainable energy façades.

Solarix and Kuijpers have involved facade builder Sorba in the project as initiators and have received a subsidy for part of the development and realization of the first Solar Design facade.The shape of the aluminium cassette panels was designed by Solarix as carrier elements for the solar panels. The colour was developed by Solarix to complement the colour of the aluminium.
